K-pop superstars BTS took home the daesang, or grand prize, at the 28th High1 Seoul Music Awards held recently at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.
This is the second straight year that BTS bagged the award and they thanked their fans for the support.
The bonsang, or main prize, was awarded to BTS, iKON, Wanna One, EXO, Monsta X, NCT 127, Momoland, NU’EST W, Red Velvet, Seventeen, Mamamoo, and TWICE.
BTS also won Best Album for “Love Yourself: Tear,” which sold 2.19 million copies in 2018 based on Gaon Music Chart’s tally.
This is their second Best Album award since winning it in 2017 for the “Wings” album. They won their first award at the Seoul Music Awards in 2014 when they received the rookie award.
iKON also grabbed the Best Song award for their hit track “Love Scenario.”
Wanna One, which disbanded last Dec. 31, took home the Fandom School Award. This was last awards ceremony that they attended. Their farewell concert will be held on Jan. 24 to 27 at Gocheok Sky Dome.
EXO also bagged the Hallyu Special Award, the second straight year that they received it and their third since 2016.
Other winners are: G-Friend, Dance Performance Award; SHINee, Popularity Award; Stray Kids, IZ*ONE, Rookie Award; Drunken Tiger, Hip Hop/R&B Award; Crying Nut, Band Award; Im Chang Jung, Ballad Award; Yang Da Il, Discovery of the Year; and ADOY, Judges’ Special Award.
