K-pop boy band Big Bang’s youngest member, Seungri, invaded Manila by holding his first solo concert in the country.
The 28-year-old singer held “The Great Seungri Tour 2019 Live in Manila: The Seungri Show” on Jan. 19 at the Mall of Asia Arena, the second stop of his concert tour this year which started in Hong Kong last Jan. 12.
He was joined by former 2NE1 member Sandara Park as special guest. At the concert, Seungri and Sandara prepared a special number by singing “Dahil Sa’yo” by Iñigo Pascual.
“I hope you guys know how much we love you, Philippines. Just two days ago, Sandara just texted me and said, ‘Seungri, we should to something special for the Philippine VIPs.’ Because you guys are special, we’re gonna sing a Philippine song. This is my first Philippine song in my life ever. I hope you guys enjoy it. Dara and Seungri cross: it’s called Pandara!” Seungri said.
After their performance, Seungri told the crowd, “Salamat. Mahal ko kayo!”
Anne Curtis and Ryan Bang of “It’s Showtime” also joined them on stage with Curtis suggesting that next time, Seungri and Sandara should appear on their TV variety show.
Sandara instead said that when Big Bang comes back, the group should be on the show to which Seungri promised.
“Please invite us. When Big Bang comes back, I promise guys, I promise you I’m gonna bring all the Big Bang members to ‘Showtime,’” Seungri said.
Seungri opened the concert with Big Bang’s “Bang Bang Bang” and his own “Let’s Talk About Love” from his second mini-album released in 2013.
His also performed songs including “1, 2, 3,” “Strong Baby,” “Fantastic Baby,” “Eyes, Nose, Lips,” “Flower Road,” “GG BE,” “Alone,” ‘If You” and “Where R U From.”
Dara performed “I Am the Best,” “Fire,” “Crush” and “Go Away.”
During the show, Seungri also showed photos of Big Bang members and talked about them. G-Dragon, Taeyang, T.O.P and Daesung are all fulfilling their military service.
“T.O.P, he’s fine. I just wanna say he’s okay. He’s super okay. He’s gonna come back soon. Don’t worry.”
He added, “Now on stage, I represent Big Bang right now. You guys don’t know how the members worry about me.”
Seungri announced his enlistment, saying, “I’m going inside soon.”
He joked that fans are now sad that he’s going to enlist but when other Big Bang members complete their military service, he will be forgotten.
“You know what, now, ‘Oh, Seungri, please don’t go. Seungri please.’ But when GD, Taeyang, Daesung and T.O.P” make their come back, he said, fans might forget him.
This is Seungri’s last solo tour before he enters the military this year, a mandatory duty for all able-bodied Korean men.
He thanked fans for coming to the concert, saying “I’m so happy right now because a lot of Philippine VIPs came to my show. This is amazing for me. Thank you so much.”
Seungri also recorded an Instagram story at the show, saying, “Mahal ko kayo, Manila. Philippine VIPs, amazing people, amazing crowd. The best crowd ever.”
At the ending, Seungri held a Philippine flag and draped it on his shoulders, saying “Maraming salamat. Mahal ko kayong lahat.”
