iKON bagged the Record Production of the Year for their album “Return” while BTS won the K-pop Contribution of the Year at the 8th Gaon Chart Music Awards held Jan. 23 in Seoul.
In addition, iKON took home the Long-Run Song of the Year and Artist of the Year in digital music for the month of January 2018 for “Love Scenario.”
In the Artist of the Year award for offline albums, the winners are Wanna One for the first quarter, BTS for the second and third quarters, and EXO for the fourth quarter.
Other winners in the Artist of the Year for monthly digital music are February – Roy Kim, “Only Then;” March – Big Bang’s “Flower Road;” April – TWICE’s “What Is Love?;” May – Bolbbalgan4’s “Travel;” June – BLACKPINK’s “DDU-DU DDU-DU” and “Forever Young;” July – TWICE’s “Dance The Night Away;” August – Red Velvet’s “Power Up;” September – Im Chang Jung’s “There Has Never Been A Day I Haven’t Loved You;” October – IU’s “BBIBBI;” and November – BLACKPINK Jennie’s “Solo.”
BTS, EXO, and Wanna One were unable to attend the awarding ceremony.
Seventeen won the World Hallyu Star Award and Hot Performance Award while Jang Deok Cheol bagged the Popular Singer Award.
Momoland and The Boyz received the World Rookie Award while Stray Kids, IZ*ONE, (G)I-DLE, and Haon won as New Artist of the Year.
Camila Cabello’s “Havana” was awarded Song of the Year (International Pop) and the Discovery of the Year awards went to Ben and Punch.
