K-pop girl group BLACKPINK triumphed in their first ever concert in the Philippines that drew a huge crowd of fans.

The jam-packed Mall of Asia Arena on Feb. 2 became a big testament to BLACKPINK’s popularity as the idol group performed before thousands of fans at their “2019 World Tour: In Your Area in Manila.”

When BLACKPINK finally emerged on stage, Pinoy Blinks welcomed them with thunderous cheers.

BLACKPINK opened the concert with “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” their most successful song since debut. It was released as the carrier track of their “Square Up” album last June 15 and its music video garnered 36.2 million views, earning the title as the most viewed K-pop music video in the first 24 hours at the time.

“DDU-DU DDU-DU” was crowned by YouTube as the most viewed K-pop music video in the world in 2018. It reached 600 million views last Jan. 13 and had 644 million views as of writing.

After this, BLACKPINK performed “Forever Young,” another song in the 2018 album, and then greeted fans.

“Ako po si Jisoo,” “Ako po si Jennie,” Ako po si Rose” and “Ako po si Lisa,” the group said.

Jennie added, “We’re so excited to be here, to have fun tonight. We missed you guys.”

“I’m so excited to perform here in Manila,” said Rose while Lisa asked, “Are my Filipino Blinks excited?” and Jisoo told the crowd, “Na-miss ko kayo.” Next they performed the ballad “Stay” followed by “Whistle.”

The two-hour concert also saw BLACKPINK hold solo stages. Jisoo sang “Clarity” by Zedd while Lisa danced to Miso’s “Take Me” and Jason Derulo’s “Swalla.” Rose performed “Let It Be” by the Beatles, Park Bom’s “You & I” and Taeyang’s “Only Look at Me,” and Jennie sang her own single “Solo.”

Other songs that BLACKPINK performed were “Kiss and Make Up” (a song with Dua Lipa), “So Hot” by the Wonder Girls, “Playing with Fire,” “Really,” “See U Later,” “16 Shots,” “Boombayah,” “As If It’s Your Last” and ended the concert and bid goodbye to fans with “Stay” during the encore.

Pinoy Blinks prepared fan projects for BLACKPINK during the concert. They held banners which read “We’ll Stay Forever” and illuminated the arena with different colors using their cell phones and lightsticks. The fans also gifted each BLACKPINK member a cake.

“Thank you so, so much for coming to our first concert in Manila and you guys are amazing. Thank you so, so much. I love you. Salamat,” said Lisa.

Jennie said, “To see you guys like this, supporting us, it really meant a lot to us. We feel very welcomed. Thank you so much for tonight and we promise we’ll come back soon.”

“Thank you for supporting so much in our first concert in Manila,” said Jisoo while Rose said, “I just wanna say thank you everybody for being so kind.”
