Filipino comedian Bentong, whose real name was Domingo Vusotros Brotamante Jr., passed away on Saturday at age 55.
Arvin Vincent S. Anierdes, Bentong’s son-in-law, said the actor-comedian passed away at approximately 5:00 a.m. of February 9 at Fairview General Hospital.
“Rest in Peace Papa Bentong hindi ko akalain na heto na ang ating huling pagsasama naten alam ko kasama mo na ang Panginoon ngayon kaya panatag narin ang loob ko,” Anierdes wrote on Facebook.
In a report by ABS-CBN, Cecille Bernal, his widow, told reporters that Bentong suffered a heart attack in the hospital. He also had diabetes.
His wife said the funeral will be held at the St. Peter Memorial Chapel along Araneta Avenue in Quezon City, according to the report.
Bentong started as a production assistant at ABS-CBN before joining the Filipino comedy scene in films and television.
Aside from being a comedian, Bentong was also famous for his hosting stints in Willie Revillame’s television shows “Wowowee” and “Wowowin”.
He also appeared in ABS CBN’s “Luv U” and “Toda Max”.
