Chella Man, 20, took his excitement to Instagram about the “unreal” announcement of his acting debut.

“As a trans, Deaf, Jewish person of color, I have always reminded myself of the power in my differences. It is a dream come true, now, as I will be able to showcase this power on the Titans. HUGE thank you to all who have supported me throughout this process!” Man added.

In the comics, Joseph Wilson, Jericho’s real name, was rendered to be mute after assassins severed his vocal chords. However, he is gifted with a powerful ability to take over and possess people through eye contact.

Through possession, Jericho can speak using the voice, language, and vocabulary of the person he took control of.

Gizmodo cited DC’s description of Titan’s take on Jericho as someone who will be an ally of sorts for the Titans against the infamous Deathstroke.

The Titans is composed of Batman’s sidekick Robin (Brendon Thwaites), Tamaran planet princess Starfire (Anna Diop), half-human/half-demon Rachel Roth or Raven (Teagan Croft), and shapeshifter Beast Boy (Ryan Potter).

Meanwhile, DC’s mercenary Deathstroke will be played by Esai Morales.

Comprised of 11 episodes, Titans premiered last October 12, 2018 on Netflix.

The series is based on the DC Comics “Teen Titans.”
