The Seoul Central District Court issued the warrant of arrest against the singer at about 8:45 p.m. on March 21, saying there is a possibility of destruction of evidence.

Earlier in the day, the court conducted a preliminary investigation on the warrant with Jung Joon-young in attendance.

“I am sorry. I made a big and inexcusable mistake, and I admit my guilt. I will accept the court decision without a battle. I apologize to the ladies who have suffered because of me. I will live my days repenting for the sins,” he told the court, according to Yonhap News.

Last March 18, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency filed for a warrant of arrest against Jung Joon-young.

Jung Joon-young is accused of secretly filming the videos and uploading them on the chat rooms where Big Bang’s Seungri and FT Island’s Choi Jong-hoon were part of.

The #KakaoTalkgate has become one of the biggest scandals that hit the Korean entertainment industry in recent years.

It started last January when a man complained that he was assaulted outside the Burning Sun club in Gangnam, Seoul where Seungri served as a board member. Seungri was then accused of supplying women to potential investors in his company.

Korean President Moon Jae-in said that a thorough investigation should be conducted regarding Burning Sun’s issues including illegal drugs, sexual assault and police collusion.

The controversy snowballed with Korean media outlet SBS News reporting last March 11 that Jung Joon-young uploaded sex videos to chat rooms. It was on the same day that Seungri announced that he was retiring from the entertainment industry because of the Burning Sun controversies.

Jung Joon-young returned to Seoul from the US on March 12 and issued an apology where he admitted to the accusations that he filmed women without their consent.

He was dropped from his TV shows including “2 Days & 1 Night” and his contract was terminated by MAKEUS Entertainment.
