K-pop boy band BTS made history as the first K-pop group to appear on NBC’s “Saturday Night Live (SNL).”
Host and actress Emma Stone introduced BTS as they performed “Boy With Luv,” a collaboration with singer Halsey and the the carrier track of their new album “Map Of The Soul: Persona,” which came out on April 12. They also sang “MIC Drop” on the April 13 episode of “SNL.”
The boys are on a roll with their latest release. “Map Of The Soul: Persona” reaching No. 1 on iTunes Top Albums chart in 86 countries and regions including the Philippines, US, UK, and Canada.
“Boy With Luv” took the top spot on iTunes in 67 countries and regions, and peaked at No. 3 on Spotify’s Top 200 global daily chart for April 13.
In South Korea, the song achieved a “Perfect All-Kill” status by being No. 1 on the daily and real-time charts on Melon, Bugs, Naver, Genie, Mnet, Soribada, and Flo, and on the weekly and real-time charts based on total score.
“Boy With Luv” was written by Melanie Joy Fontana, Michel “Lindgren” Schulz, Pdogg, RM, “Hitman” Bang, Suga, Emily Weisband, J-Hope, and Halsey.
“Map Of The Soul: Persona” also achieved feats by racking up 3 million in pre-orders. A Korean media report stated that based on the Hanteo chart, the album has sold 1,808,698 copies for the week from April 8 to 14 including 1.47 million on the first day of release.
