K-pop boy band members Minho of SHINee and Dong-woo of Infinite have enlisted in the Korean military recently to fulfill their mandatory duty as citizens.
Minho entered the Marine Corps training camp in Pohang, North Gyeongsang province in South Korea while Dong-woo enlisted at the army boot camp in Cheorwon in Gangwon province and will serve as an active duty soldier.
On Instagram, Minho posted a letter about his enlistment.
“I will be away for a short or a long while. Since I debuted on May 25, 2008, the time has passed so fast. SHINee World, the fan club, has given warm comfort to me,” he wrote, according to Yonhap News.
At his enlistment, he was accompanied by fellow SM artists Suho of EXO, SHINee’s Taemin, Super Junior’s Kyuhyun and TVXQ’s Changmin.
Minho, 27, debuted in SHINee in 2008 and is the third member of the band to enlist in the military after Onew last December and Key last March.
Dong-woo, 28, started his career in Infinite in 2010. He is also the third member of Infinite to fulfill military service. Leader Sunggyu enlisted in May last year while Sungyeol started last March 26.
Dong-woo wrote on his Instagram account that “since 2010, I’m so grateful that I’ve experienced things like Infinite, its unit and solo activities, musical, variety shows, radio, concerts and world tours. It was so fascinating and enjoyable that I would want to be a member of Infinite if I were born again.”
