Young Filipino hip-hop dance crew VPeepz set the World of Dance (WOD) stage on fire and wowed the judges anew as they secured a slot in the Junior Team Division Finals.
VPeepz, clad in the traditional blue and red barong, grooved to Billie Eilish’s “&Burn” and almost got a perfect cumulative score of 98.7 in “The Cut” episode.
WOD judges Jennifer Lopez and Derek Hough both gave the youngsters, aged 11 to 16, a score of 98 while Ne-Yo locked in a perfect 100.
“Without a flip, without a trick, without anything… nobody risked their life and you got all three of us out of our seats,” Ne-Yo said.
JLo compared the squad to an “army” and pointed out that the one wearing the red barong gave the judges an idea of what was happening with their performance.
“Everything was so clever and perfect,” Lopez added.
Hough lauded the team’s “clarity”, “choreography”, and “thoughtfulness” as the “spacing” and “music” fuelled the “hard” and “intricate” moments of their footwork.
Ne-Yo also said the latest performance just “set the bar” as he punched in his score.
In the World Final, all four division (Junior, Upper, Junior Team, Upper Team) champions will compete for one million US dollars and will be hailed as the grand winner of the competition.
NBC’s World of Dance is a dance competition series which “brings the world’s elite dancers together to compete in epic battles of artistry, precision, and athleticism.”
