It’s not very often that you can actually mention the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and Binibining Pilipinas in the same breath.
But when it came to the making of the gown of Binibining Pilipinas candidate Emma Mary Tiglao, it was inevitable to link the two institutions, which are worlds apart.
That’s because Tiglao donned a gown that was woven by “PDL resident basket weavers of Angeles District Jail Male Dorm,” according to a post on BJMP Angeles District Jail’s Facebook page.
She wore the gown designed by Rich Sabinian as her national costume for a photo exhibit, which opened Wednesday at the Gateway Mall.
“Thank you Ms. Emma and Sir Rich for entrusting this creation to the skillful hands of our PDLs (Persons Deprived of Liberty), truly a Kapampangan pride. “Kapampangan ku, Pagmaragul ku!,” a part of the FB post read.
Aside from Tiglao, photos of beauty queens Catriona Gray, Jehza Huelar, Michele Gumabao and Eva Patalinjug, will also be showcased in the exhibit.
