Fresh from their successful stint in a beauty contest in Europe, two Filipino girls arrived home to a rousing welcome from their family and friends when they won in the Little and Teen Universe pageant in Batumi, Georgia recently.
Prezious Katalinae Martinez Langit of Olongapo City won the Young Miss Universe Grand Prix under the little category.
Langit, a Grade 5 student of St. Joseph College Elementary Department, also won two special awards: Miss Asia and Best in National Costume.
Kasley Malaika Tobias Libres of Cebu placed 1st runner-up in the teen category.
Libres also received three special awards – Miss Model, Best Talent and Best in National Costume. She garnered the second highest score (all group categories) in the competition.
The girls were welcomed by their parents during arrival at the airport.
Both girls said that they will pursue dentistry in college when they grow up. But they admitted that they want to try their luck in national pageants in the future.
Maan Aris of GlaMore and Star Shining was named Most Professional National Director. Joining them in the trip was Aries Concepcion, husband of Maan Cueto Aris.
“Thank you for this bonus! This special award is given to me for the strong performance of the Philippine team in the pageant,” said Aris during an interview at the Ninoy Aquino International Aiport in Paranaque City Saturday night.
Aris said that the two winning girls are just the kick-off for their team to compete in various international pageants this year.
“Marami pa po kaming isasali na mga kids and teens sa mga pageants abroad hanggang December. Simula pa lamang ito,” Aris added
