Cheers to the winners – but also to one who walked out on reporters and those two who proved they are good friends, not rivals, off camera after all. Can you guess?
As usual, the Myx Music Awards this year gathered the hottest Pinoy bands and singers who were slugging it out in some of the categories or simply came to be seen.
Iñigo Pascual was one of the early birds on the red carpet, an hour before the ceremony started. His ‘90s-inspired clothes showed off his chest, which was not lost on his friend, Robi Domingo, who kept teasing him about it. At one point, Robi even tried to take off Iñigo’s shirt but the latter swiftly put it back on, laughing. We learned that Inigo had just finished shooting a music video for a song meant for release in the US.
Then there’s KZ Tandingan who got the thumbs up from the crowd over her cotton candy-colored hair. Or was she channeling Starlight from ‘Rainbow Brigte?’ Either way, it’s cool.
The interview with singer Unique was going well, until someone asked about IV of Spades, his former band. At first the singer tried to answer politely, even saying “Good luck na lang sa kanila” when he was asked to comment on their nominations. But as soon as the reporters asked if they have talked to each other lately, Unique said “Bye” then walked away.
And what do you know: Few minutes later, after Unique went backstage, in came IV of Spades. When told about what their former member did, the three pretended to stage a walk out too, which got people laughing.
Network affiliation was set aside that night, as with deemed rivalries. The moment Kapuso Rita Daniela saw Kapamilya Jona, the two squealed and hugged each other like high school girls.
The same happened when Rita saw Julie Anne San Jose on the red carpet. The two are deemed rivals by many especially after Rita’s career started heating up last year when she was paired with Ken Chain on “My Special Tatay.” Julie Anne moved up in rank before Rita, especially after Regine Velasquez left GMA last year.
Rita and Julie Anne were members of defunct group, Sugar Pops.
Moira dela Torre and husband Jason Marvin attended the awards together. Married just four months ago, the two were looking straight into each other’s eyes at one point, as if there was no one else around, enough to give diabetes.
Did you see “PBB Otso” Adult Big Four Yamyam Gucong, Fumiya Sankai, Andre Brouilette, and Lou Yanong horsing around as if they never competed against each other? It’s not on TV.
