Former members of 2NE1 CL, Dara, Park Bom, and Minzy have reunited to celebrate their group’s 10th anniversary.
The four met on May 17, the date of their debut in 2009 when they performed the song “Fire” on the TV music program “Inkigayo.”
On their Instagram accounts, they posted photos of their reunion including one where Park Bom and Dara are shown crying.
“Back in 2009, the four of us in 2NE1 were excited on what the world had to offer. We didn’t expect that we would be given the best fans in the world. We didn’t expect that we would have fans in many parts of the world. To countries who don’t speak and understand our language. We are very grateful that Blackjacks embraced us. And because Blackjacks were everywhere, we were able to go to different countries,” wrote Dara.
She added, “To places we only see on maps. 10 years later, you are still here for us. Through joys and tears. Even when we had drastic hairstyles and outrageous stage costumes, you still loved and supported us. I can’t believe how much you mean to us — 4 Korean girls who just wanted to perform onstage.”
“We can’t thank you enough for the love. How we all wish we can thank each one of you and give you a hug. But I hope this message would be enough for now to show you how much Blackjacks mean to us. Thank you. I love you,” she said.
The four also went on Instagram Live to celebrate the occasion with a cake and wrote notes.
“Blackjack!! You guyz are the best fans on Earth!!! I feel blessed to have you by my side for 10 years. I’m always grateful. I love you fourever,” wrote CL.
Minzy’s message read “Happy 10th Year Anniversary” while Dara wrote, “Happy 10th year anniversary!!! 2NE1 & Blackjacks.”
“Happy 10th year anniversary!!! I miss y’all. Always luv for 2NE1. Thanx for your love and support,” according to Park Bom.
Because of an issue, 2NE1 went on hiatus starting in 2014 but they performed at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) in December 2015.
In April 2016, YG Entertainment announced that Minzy would be leaving the agency and the group after her contract’s expiration on May 5, 2016. It added that CL, Dara, and Park Bom would continue as a group.
But on Nov. 25, 2016, the agency announced the disbandment of 2NE1 after seven years in the business following a discussion with the members. CL and Dara signed solo contracts with the agency except Park Bom.
2NE1 released their farewell song “Goodbye” on Jan. 21, 2017.
Back then, Yang Hyun-suk, founder of YG Entertainment, said that 2NE1 might get together in the future just like girl group S.E.S.
