K-pop star Bae Jin-young expressed deep appreciation to the Pinoy fans that attended his “I’m Young” first solo fan meeting in Manila over the weekend.
The 19-year-old singer demonstrated his talents from dancing and singing to showing a lot of “aegyo” or cute action.
The event gave fans the chance to know more about Bae Jin-young, who rose to fame as member of K-pop sensation Wanna One.
“I was very nervous before coming out here. But with your support, I don’t feel nervous anymore,” he said.
Bae Jin-young opened the fan meeting with a performance of “Hug,” the debut song of boy band TVXQ, followed by “Oh Little Girl,” a track he and other contestants performed on the survival audition TV show “Produce 101” Season 2 in 2017.
Bae Jin-young placed 10th among 11 winners and was launched as a member of Wanna One, which promoted until December 2018.
He then launched his solo career by releasing the song “Hard to Say Goodbye” last April 26. He is part of five-member group C9Boyz that will be launched by C9 Entertainment.
The show at New Frontier Theater was divided into different segments and he said that “I really prepared so much for this fan meeting.”
In one segment called Bae Jin-young “Three Wonders,” distinctive facts about Jin-young were revealed including his “unchanging angle” of leaning his face to 45 degrees when he takes or poses for photos although he said that “I’m not really good at taking selfie.”
Another was to find out his “deung sin,” or the size of his face in relation to his height, a measurement that is a social norm in South Korea where small faces are a standard of beauty. When he was measured (dividing his height by the size of his face), Bae Jin-young, who is about 5’8, got 13, exceeding Korea’s “golden proportion” of 8.
Stories from fans about “that moment when I fell for Jin-young” were also read on stage.
In “Make My Wish Come True, Young” segment, fans asked him to do things on stage including doing the finger heart and saying “annyeong” (hi) and a 10-second “aegyo.”
Asked to tell Pinoy fans that he loves them, he said, “I really, really want to thank you. I really want to communicate with you. I really want to see you, too.”
During the show, Bae Jin-young also performed “11,” “Baby” and “Hard to Say Goodbye.”
Bae Jin-young thanked fans for coming to the show.
“I want to thank you all. Thanks to you, I am able to stand before you. I know you know me very much and I’m very, very thankful. I want to give back more. Mahal ko kayo,” he said.
When asked how he felt about his first fan meeting in Manila, he said, “I’m glad to see you. I missed you all. I promised you that I would be back in Manila. I’m really glad that I was able to keep that promise.”
Pinoy fans, led by Bae Jin-young Philippines and C9Boyz Philippines, prepared projects for the young star. They sang and presented him with a cake to celebrate his birthday last May 10. Fans also held banners that read ‘Happy Bae Bae Day” and “It’s the hardest to say goodbye to you.”
A video footage of Bae Jin-young and greetings from Pinoy fans was shown, and he said, “I almost cried. I’m really thankful for giving me unconditional love.”
“I will return the love you gave me. Please believe and stay with me. Really, really, I love you, guys. I’m so happy to see you. I really enjoyed the show tonight and I’ll be back soon. Thank you. I love Manila!” Bae Jin-young said as he bid goodbye to fans.
Bae Jin Young’s I’m Young First Asia Fan Meeting Tour in Manila was promoted by Do Concert and Search Entertainment in cooperation with CDM Entertainment.
