Six months after signing with Viva Records, 13-year-old Via Ortega scores a hit in her debut song “Paghanga,” about a girl who can’t confess her feelings for her crush.
In an exclusive interview with Bulletin Entertainment, she admitted wanting to follow in the footsteps of her labelmate, Sarah Geronimo.
“I can see her passion when it comes to her career. She’s really persistent. She didn’t get to where she is now in just a snap but underwent step by step process. She is a lesson in not rushing into things and waiting for your time to come,” Via said.
Why did she join showbiz at such a young age?
“So I could learn more and experience more as these would help me in the future.”
Via understands showbiz is not all glitz and glamour. She is ready even for the not-so-good parts, like online bashing.
“If I receive hate comments I’ll just use those as motivation to do better,” she said.
Via hasn’t stopped schooling. She said education is important to her so she won’t sacrifice that for burgeoning career.
The teenager hopes to write her own songs in the future. She also wants to dip her fingers into acting.
