Synth-pop singer, songwriter, and producer Lauv made his recent concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum extra special by debuting live new song “Sad Forever” which he finished writing on the plane moments before landing in Manila.
The artist announced the song mid-way through the concert, after taking the audience by surprise by appearing off stage right in the middle of the patron section. The performance was captured on film which Lauv said would be used in the music video of the song.
The video was shot twice with Lauv asking everyone in the audience to hold up their mobile phones to create a sea of light as he repeated the song.
Based on the lyrics, “Sad Forever” is about fighting depression.
After the song, Lauv went backstage then reappeared to continue the concert in what seemed like a Barong Tagalog, unbuttoned.
“I love you guys so much,” he told his Pinoy fans who’ve been reciprocating the “feels” by singing the lyrics of most of his songs back at him. “This is literally everything to me right now.”
Produced by AEG Presents and Ovation Productions, the show was his first-ever headline tour in Asia, and his first-ever arena show in Manila. He also performed at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel & Casino the next day.
Before performing “Sad Forever,” Lauv dropped the single “Drugs & The Internet” last April. That one accumulated over 10 million Spotify streams in two weeks.
Lauv’s others hits are “I’m So Tired,” “I Like Me Better,” “The Other,” “A Different Way” and “There’s No Way.” His forthcoming album is titled “how I’m feeling.”
German-born Megan Bülow, who recently won Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the 2019 Juno Awards, opened the show by singing her biggest hits, including the anti-romance anthem, “Not A Love Song.”
“Lauv’s 2019 Asia Tour” live in Manila and Cebu were produced by AEG Presents and Ovation Productions, in cooperation with TAP Sports and FOXlife.
