At 15, Rayantha Leigh already knows her purpose in life: To entertain people.
PMPC’s Star Awards’ New Female Recording Artist of Year of 2018 has launched her eponymous debut album in time for her birthday a few days ago.
The album has seven songs and these are “Laging Ikaw,” “Nahuhulog,” “Pangako, Pag-ibig Ba,” “Wag Ka Nang Iiyak,” “I Will Be There,” “Tuksuhan,” the bonus track “Puro Papogi,” and the title track.
In an interview, Rayantha said performing has always been her passion. That’s why her supportive parents enrolled her in workshops, one conducted by Cornerstone Entertainment and another under talent manager Ogie Diaz.
Aside from singing, she has also appeared on shows like “Unang Yugto,” “The Prodigal Prince,” and “Bee Happy, Go Lucky.”
“I’m thankful for all the opportunities that have been given to me,” she said.
Asked to name her influences, Rayantha cited Sarah Geronimo and Moira dela Torre as her idols in singing, while Nadine Lustre is her “greatest inspiration.”
In fact, she hopes to be partnered with Nadine’s boyfriend, James Reid.
“I like Nadine po kasi she’s very passionate with what she does. Also, I like her outfits, I like how she carries herself. She’s a very good actress and very beautiful.”
Her celebrity crushes?
“I think I’m too young to have one,” she said. “Besides, my priority is career.”
When someone mentioned the name of IV of Spades member Zild Benitez, Rayantha blushed then clarified he is only her idol.
Rayantha is a student at College of San Benildo-Rizal. She was an honor student until she entered show business.
No regrets here.
“I am trying my best to balance everything. I believe I can do it,” she said.
Rayantha continues to attend dance, acting and singing workshops. She also practices playing musical instruments.
Rayantha, along with DJ Airene, will have a concert in Tokyo in December.
