GMA Network has started an investigation on the absence of a medical team during the filming of Eddie “Manoy” Garcia’s scenes for a series last Saturday.
In a statement released June 10, the network said:
“It has been the Network’s practice to have medical personnel and ambulance crew on standby whenever the production is executing big action scenes during the taping. This has been likewise the practice of other GMA programs. Given this, we are currently investigating the absence of a medical team on the set last Saturday, June 8.”
The television network added that they were “deeply saddened with what happened to Mr. Eddie Garcia”.
“The management is committed to getting to the bottom of this unfortunate incident,” GMA Network added.
To recall, the veteran actor suffered a neck fracture after he tripped and fell while shooting a scene for a GMA television series, contrary to earlier reports that he suffered a heart attack.
The 90-year-old veteran actor was confined at the Makati Medical Center.
Dr. Enrique Lagman, Garcia’s family doctor, said the actor is in critical condition due to a severe cervical fracture.
The family of the veteran actor, meanwhile, asked for prayers and privacy while they deal with the unfortunate incident.
Garcia, considered as one of the pillars in the Philippine entertainment industry, portrayed different lead characters in action, comedy, drama and fantasy films and television series.
