For the second time, the Philippines will host the prestigious Manhunt International modeling competition.
This was announced by Rosko Dickinson, executive president of Manhunt International, during a press conference held at a hotel in Makati City Tuesday afternoon. Joining him were Jonas Gaffud, president of Empire Philippines (Manhunt producer) and reigning Manhunt International Vicent Llorach Gonzalez of Spain.
“It gives me great pleasure to announce that the 20th edition of Manhunt International will be held here once again in the Philippines,” said Dickinson.
More than 40 delegates from around the world will be coming to the Philippines for the premier modeling competition from February 15 to 23, 2020.
The gala night of 20th Manhunt International will be held on Feb. 22, 2020.
Dickinson cited the legacy of Manhunt International which he said has been copied by other international competitions for men.
“There are many competitions for men today. But without a doubt, the first and the most prestigious is Manhunt International,” Dickinson said.
He added: “It would be an understatement to say that all the other male contests in the world today are a copy of our original blueprint.”
Gaffud admitted pressure after the Philippines has been chosen as the host country of the prestigious modeling contest.
“Of course there’s pressure. I’ll just close my eyes. Seriously, I want the Manhunt International contest to have a modern peg that will attract the international community,” Gaffud said.
In 2012, June Macasaet became the first Manhunt International titleholder from the Philippines.
It was in 1999 when the same male contest was first held in the Philippines. So far, Sweden and China are the countries with most number of wins with two each.
