Samantha Mae Bernardo to bashers: ‘Thank you for making me popular’

Bb. Pilipinas 2019 2nd runner-up Samantha Mae Bernardo is back!

Following a “short vacation” from the current media tour of Bb. Pilipinas, Bernardo is out to prove to her detractors that she is ready to fulfill her responsibilities with the national pageant even if she did not win any of the major titles.

Bernardo, who represented Palawan in the prestigious national contest, said that she is still eligible to try the national pageant for the third time in 2020.

“Yes am still eligible (to join next year),” said Bernardo after the Pride Month press conference at Black Scoop Cafe at Araneta Center in Quezon City recently.

But the beauty queen said that for now, she is not thinking about her pageant plans for next year.

“For now, I want to rest and chill and do the things that I want to do,” she said.

Moments after the grand coronation of Bb Pilipinas 2019, Bernardo admitted she was really devastated when she won 2nd runner-up second time around. She was crying backstage.

“I really worked hard during the competition. The first person I called after the coronation was my boyfriend. He watched the show. Then I also received text messages, words of encouragement from Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Universe Philippines 2014 MJ Lastimosa and other queens, ” Bernardo said.

Bernardo went to Singapore for 10 days after the pageant. She came back to Manila in time for the Pride Month activities at the Araneta Center in Quezon City.

For the first time after the June 9 coronation, the eight winners of the 2019 Bb Pilipinas are finally complete again in one photo.

Now she has moved on from pageant heartache. Asked about her message to bashers, Bernardo said: “God bless you guys! Thank you for making me popular.”

She added: “I respect their opinions. But let’s just stop the hate. Konting respect lang.”
