Members of 5 Seconds of Summer — Calum Hood, Michael Clifford, Luke Hemmings, and Ashton Irwin — have been spotted doing something very Filipino in Manila. Kuya, para!
The jeepney, known for compact seating arrangement, is one of the most popular means of public transportation in the country.
The Australian pop-rock band talked about and showed a clip of the experience on Instagram.
“Today we’re in Manila riding on jeepney’s and experiencing the city. #jeepneylife #5sosinManila @michaelclifford @calumhood @lukehemmings @ashtonirwin,” they wrote.
The video shot by Dusty Kessler showed 5 Seconds of Summer inside a yellow jeepney.
Lead vocalist Luke opened the video.
“So we’re in the Philippines. It’s very, very hot, apparently, this is how people get around here. It’s called a jeepney and it looks pretty awesome and it’s very hot in here. We’re gonna ride around for a while and see what’s happens.”
The group has 7.7 million followers on Instagram.
Luke even noted that they’re going to a local food chain, Jollibee, “because that’s what we do because we’re Filipino.”
Drummer Ashton declared on his own Instagram account that he “love the Philippines.”
“I love seeing all the happy faces here and witnessing the way they love music,” he related. “Today in Manila we visited 3 radio stations, did a bunch of promotion for easier and met some 5SOS fans. Then we rode on a Jeepney back to the hotel.”
The band held “Just Woke Up In Manila” show last July 11 at New Frontier Theater.
