A court has approved today, July 22, the divorce settlement of Song-Song couple Song Joong-ki, 33, and Song Hye-kyo, 37.
This means the couple’s marriage has officially ended, which lasted for one year and eight months since they got married on Oct. 31, 2017 in Seoul.
The decision came just less than a month after Song Joong-ki filed for court mediation for his divorce with the actress with the Seoul Family Court last June 26.
Song Hye-kyo’s agency, UAA, announced that her “divorce was finalized today (July 22, 2019) at the Seoul Family Court.”
“We would like to inform you that the mediation process has been completed with the two sides agreeing on divorce without any alimony and property division,” the agency added.
Song Joong-ki sought the court’s mediation to settle matters of the divorce instead of going to trial.
“I have begun the process of filing for divorce from Song Hye-kyo. Rather than denouncing one another and arguing over who is to blame, I hope that the divorce process can be wrapped up amicably,” the actor said, according to the Korea Times.
Song Hye-kyo cited personality differences as the cause of their decision to divorce.
“Hye-kyo is currently going through divorce proceedings with her husband, following a careful consideration. The reason for divorce is a difference in personality. The decision came because the pair could not overcome the difference,” UAA earlier said.
Song Joong-ki and Song Hye-kyo fell in love while they were starring in the 2016 hit drama “Descendants of the Sun.”
They announced on July 5, 2017 that they were getting married. The wedding was held at The Shilla Hotel in Seoul.
