Fans are commending K-pop boy band NU’EST member Aron for being an interpreter to help a sick child on a flight from New York to South Korea.
NU’EST performed at KCON 2019 New York recently. Couple of days later, Aron boarded an Asiana Airlines flight at John F. Kennedy International Airport en route to Incheon International Airport in South Korea.
On the same flight was an eight-year-old girl surnamed Choi, who was with her mother. One hour and a half after takeoff, the little girl developed high fever, stomach pain and convulsion.
A doctor, who was on the flight, provided treatment for the sick child. Aron helped by interpreting between the doctor, who doesn’t know Korean, and the child’s mother.
“Aron is also in poor health due to acute intestinal inflammation. However, he did not hesitate to help when he heard of an emergency patient. He made an effort to convey the mother’s words to the doctor,” said a person who was on the flight, according to Dispatch.
The doctor advised that the child should be brought to a hospital for emergency treatment. The plane made an emergency landing at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport in Alaska. After Choi was brought to a hospital, the plane resumed its flight to Korea.
As a way of thanking those who saved his daughter’s life, Choi’s father sent a letter to Asiana Airlines along with a drawing of the girl that had the written message “Thank you for saving my life. Thank you so much.”
“We thank the flight crew, passengers, pilot, and officers of Flight 02221 for making the difficult choice to emergency land and the staff at Anchorage for their rapid treatment of my child,” read to child’s father, according to the Korea Herald.
On its Instagram account, Asian Airlines uploaded the drawing with the caption, “We’d like to send our special thanks to the passenger who sent us this thoughtful drawing! This passenger was on her way when she suddenly felt ill. On behalf of our brave little passenger, Asiana Airlines would like to give a special recognition to the cabin crew members who professionally and quickly resolved the issue!”
