Alfred Vargas makes time for Filipino workers in Hong Kong

Actor and public servant Alfred Vargas shot scenes in Hong Kong for his upcoming film recently and he spent some of his down time mingling with Filipinos working there.

The 37-year-old artist posted on Instagram some photos taken with them.

“In the midst of recent events, I’m happy to have spent time with our Filipino brothers and sisters here in Hongkong and know that they are okay. Tuloy ang buhay. Tuloy ang pakikipagsapalaran para sa kanilang pangarap. Tuloy ang kanilang sakripisyo para sa #maginhawangpamilya. Maraming salamat po sa napakawarm welcome ninyo. Bilib na bilib po ako sa inyong lahat! God bless sa lahat ng OFWs! #actionvision #servicetohumanityisthebestworkoflife #tungosamaginhawangpamilya #pinoyako,” his caption read.

One of the photos also showed a banner that has a greeting message for Alfred.

“Welcome to Hong Kong Rep. Alfred Vargas. #tatakVargas,” the text read.

According to the placard, the “OFW Consultation” was held last Aug. 11 in cooperation with Overseas Filipino Workers Associations.

Alfred’s movie partially shot in Hong Kong is the Ricky Lee film “MNL-HK-NY” co-starring Shaina Magdayao.

He even shared some behind-the-scenes footage of the taping, wherein he plays Allan to Shaina’s Tanya.

According to Alfred, he and his “MNL-HK-NY” family were able to take one of the last few flights out of Hong Kong before the flight cancellations.

“Looks like swerte talaga tayo @shaina_magdayao,” he wrote.

Recall that Hong Kong airport canceled all flights Monday, “with authorities blaming demonstrators for the disruption of one of the world’s busiest terminals, a dramatic escalation of anti-government protests that have roiled the Asian financial hub,” as reported on Reuters.

Shaina extended her gratitude to Ricky and Alfred.

“It’s been an honor and a challenge breathing life into a #RickyLee Characters… Salamat Sir for the trust,” she posted on her social media account. “Naks, Salamat din for being so easy to work with. We survived HK, my new found friend and scorp bud! Kaya pala magkasundo tayo! I shall see you in New York in a few days.”
