Having started her career as child actor, Empress Schuck is making the smart move of investing her hard-earned money from acting into different businesses.
The 26-year-old actress-entrepreneur has opened the third branch of her milk tea and frappe shop King’s Cup Blends at the MOA Paragon, together with her business partner Andrei Lim. The other two they own are at Farmer’s Market in Cubao and at Paragon, SM Mall of Asia.
“Doing business is not new to me. I think I got the trait of being business-minded from my mom,” she said.
At an early age, Empress already had knack for business. She used to sell school items to her classmates.
“My mom gave me stickers and pencil cases and she encouraged me to sell those. I would offer it to my classmates and luckily, they bought from me,” she said.
Andrei is a close friend of Empress’ boyfriend, Vino Guingona.
“At the time, I was looking for an investment. Since he’s a trusted friend, I thought, ‘Why not (partner) with him?’ Honestly, we didn’t expect we would grow this big. I try to be hands-on with the business and I learn from Andrei every day. I really believe in the product,” she said.
Andrei claimed their milkteas are healthier because it doesn’t have fructose. The products are also prized lower than many milk tea brands because they don’t want to go for psychological pricing, which is to peg a product with higher price tag to make people think these are of superior quality even when they’re not.
Showbiz and some stuff
Empress is doing well in her career and personal life, yet she still want to achieve other things. She previously took a break when she gave birth to daughter Athalia.
The actress is now freelance talent. Her most previous work was on GMA’s “Hiram na Anak.”
She will star in Cignal’s upcoming online show “Carpool,” where she plays a policewoman. Empress shared she wants to break free from people’s misconception about 0her that she can only do drama.
“I’m a policewoman trying to solve the case of teenagers being haunted by a woman. It’s one of my favourite roles to play.
“See, I started as child actor, so people think I only do drama, that I can cry only. I want to show that I can also do action. I can do full force training on shooting and fighting scenes if I need to.”
Empress hopes to do an action project someday, like Cristine Reyes in the movie “Maria.” Aside from “Carpool,” Empress has also finished a movie with Sen. Lito Lapid.
Are we going to hear wedding bells ring for her and Vito soon, we asked.
“I’m very happy and content with my life. None yet. That’s something I am not thinking of just yet,” Empress said.
