Janine Gutierrez bagged the 2019 QCinema Film Festival Best Actress award.
“Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng bumuo ng ‘Babae at Baril’, lalo na kay Direk Rae Red. Direk, sobrang salamat. Hindi ko alam kung anong dasal ang ginawa ko para makarating sa ‘kin tong napakagandang script mo,” said Gutierrez in her speech.
The Kapuso actress starred “Babae at Baril”, which also won the Gender Sensitivity award.
The psychological thriller features the story of an ordinary department store saleslady whose life takes a turn when she finds a curious-looking gun on her doorstep. The film also made it to the festival’s Asia Next Wave competition next year.
Director Rae Red won the Best Director plum.
According to a report by GMA News, Red dedicated her win to all the strong women in the country.

“Babae at Baril” is shown in selected theaters throughout the QCinema film fest until October 22.
