Top K-pop girl group BLACKPINK set a new record when their ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ music video reached 1 billion views on YouTube.
The music video reached the milestone on Nov. 11, 2019, or 16 months since it was uploaded on YouTube on June 15, 2018.
With this, they are the first K-pop group to achieve 1 billion views for a single music video. ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ also has 11 million likes and more than 2 million comments on the YouTube page.
On Twitter, the hashtags #HitUWithThat1B, #BLACKPINK뚜두뚜두1BILLION and #OneBillionWithBLACKPINK took the top 3 places of trending topics worldwide as fans celebrated the group’s achievement.
When it was released in June 2018, ‘DDU-DU DDU-DU’ initially set the record of being the most watched K-pop music video in the first 24 hours with 36.2 million views and the biggest 24-hour debut of 2018.
Two other MVs of BLACKPINK have reached more than 700 million views on YouTube. “Boombayah” has 740 million views while “As If It’s Your Last” has 705 million views.
