The audience at the premiere night of Regal Films’ “The Annulment” drew collective gasps before breaking into applause whenever lead stars Lovi Poe and Joem Bascon would figure in those steamy intimate scenes.
In a short interview after the screening, the two revealed they did not choreograph nor plan the blocking of those scenes as the director wanted the awkwardness to come across as in real life. It helps that Joem and Lovi have worked together before so establishing onscreen chemistry needed from them came easily.
“The Annulment” is about Sherwin (Joem) and Gari (Lovi), a couple whose marriage is on the brink of falling apart. Gari wants her happiness back by getting an annulment, while Sherwin will try his best to win her back.
The other cast members are Laura Lehmann, Myrtle Sarrosa, JC Tiuseco, Dianne Medina, Erika Padilla, Nikka Valencia, Manuel Chua, Nico Antonio, Matt Daclan, Jon Leo, Naya Amore, Johnny Revilla and Ana Abad Santos.
Directed by McArthur “Mac” Alejandre, “The Annulment” is now in cinemas.
