In more than 180 theaters nationwide since Wednesday, “The Heiress” is one of the better Pinoy horror films in recent years.
Those who attended “The Heiress” premiere night on Nov. 26 definitely thought so. They applauded the fine performance of the cast, particularly Maricel Soriano, who, even with just one arch of an eyebrow in key scenes, could strike fear in the hearts of men (and women).
The Diamond Star with co-star Janella Salvador, Sunshine Cruz, McCoy De Leon, as well as director Frasco Mortiz, came in full force. Also darkening the red carpet in support of the Regal Entertainment movie are Maja Salvador, Rambo Nuñez, Arjo Atayde, Alexa Ilacad, and others more.
“The Heiress” is about Luna (Maricel), a powerful “mambabarang (demon sorceress)” who’d ruthlessly punish or kill anyone who would steal from her the love and attention of her niece Guia (Janella), including her biological Mother, Carmen (Sunshine), and her boyfriend, Renz (McCoy).
Unknown to Guia, she is the next heiress, and the only one who can stop the evil spirit Malalarang that controls Luna.
But at the same time, since she is the heir, Guia is also capable of inheriting the powers of her aunt and can also be a threat to those who will belittle her.
