R&B singer and entrepreneur Akon has created his own city in Senegal.
In a Twitter post on Monday, the Grammy-nominated artist announced that he had finalized the agreement for his own city, named “AKON City” in Senegal.

“Just finalized the agreement for AKON CITY in Senegal. Looking forward to hosting you there in the future,” the R&B singer said.
Last Thursday, the Senegalese-American singer pledged to invest in tourism in his native Senegal, industry and government officials said.
A spokesperson for Senegal’s tourism ministry said Akon, whose real name is Alioune Badara Thiam, wanted to build a sustainable tourism village that would “campaign for the environment.”
According to Akon’s official website, he was born and raised in Senegal until he moved to Union City, New Jersey, USA at the age of seven.
He is known for his famous hits such as “Locked Up,” “Smack That,” and “One Day.” (With a report from Agence France-Presse)
