K-pop superstars BTS will be performing at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards, which will be hosted by Alicia Keys on Jan. 26 (Jan. 25 Philippine time) at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
The Recording Academy announced that BTS will be part of the “Grammy Moments,” which will have two special segments.
The “Old Town Road All-Stars” segment will showcase Grammy nominees Billy Ray Cyrus and Lil Nas X together with BTS, Diplo, Mason Ramsey and other artists.
“Over the past year, ‘Old Town Road’ has been the subject of numerous mixes and mashups, which inspired bringing together a number of acts who have performed it, making it a one-of-a-kind performance,” according to the academy.
With the good news, BTS tweeted, “‘We will be back.’ Excited to perform along amazing artists at the #GRAMMYs.”
Ariana Grande, another Grammy Awards performer, took a photo with BTS during what appeared as Grammy rehearsal, writing, “Look who I bumped into at rehearsal.”
The announcement came after BTS were snubbed in the Grammy nominations last November that upset fans.
The idol group’s “Map of the Persona,” released in April 2019, topped the Billboard 200, and became No. 1 in terms of physical album sales in the US in the first half of 2019 with 312,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen Music’s 2019 Mid-Year Report.
“Boy with Luv,” a song in the album, became the most viewed music video in the first 24 hours with 74.6 million hits, according to YouTube.
“You guys deserve better but as long as you’re happy, we’re proud and happy!!” one fan commented on BTS’ announcement on the upcoming Grammy performance.
A fan account commented, “We want an OT7 Stage too. If not this year then maybe next year with at least a nomination for their upcoming album MOTS: 7.”
After the Grammys, BTS will perform “Black Swan” for the first time on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” on Jan. 28.
