K-pop boy bands Pentagon and ONF challenged themselves to singing their own songs in Filipino language and other foreign languages with local snacks as prizes.
Nine-member Pentagon made their comeback with the album “Universe: The Black Hall,” released Feb. 12, led by the carrier track “Dr. Bebe.”
ONF, composed of six members, released their fourth mini-album “Go Live” last October featuring the song “Why.”
The YouTube channel Rolling in K-pop invited the two groups to perform their songs in Korean and three foreign languages in the segment “Transonglation Challenge.”
As a challenge, Pentagon had to perform “Dr. Bebe” in Korean, Filipino, Indonesian and Russian languages.
They were divided into three groups. Hongseok, Yuto and Jinho would sing in Filipino; Kino, Yeo One and Wooseok would perform in Russian, and Yui and Shinwon would sing in Indonesian.
In the end, Team Indonesia made no mistake while Team Philippines got one mistake and Team Russia had two.
As prize, Team Philippines tried Filipino snacks and drinks including mango, guava and Four Seasons juices, banana chips, Skyflakes and Fudgee Barr.
“It tastes different from Korean mango juice. It tastes almost fresh,” Hongseok said of the Philippine-made mango juice. Jinho agreed, saying, “It’s like eating mango.”
Jinho said “it was a pity we didn’t get to visit the Philippines on our world tour. Whenever we get the opportunity, we will visit so we will work harder to visit the Philippines this year. See you in the Philippines.”
Meanwhile, ONF performed their song “Why” in Filipino, Spanish and Indonesian.
Team Philippines, composed of E-Tion and J-Us, sang translated Filipino lines that include “Pakiusap, patawaring muli,” “Malabong emosyon, malabong damdamin,” “Ikaw, napakadelikado mo, dahan-dahang ako’y nababasag,” Kung ito’y pag-ibig, okey lang, okey lang,” and “Araw ng Linggong iyong ginawa, ako’y humihinga sa iyo.” They had one mistake while the two other teams got perfect scores.
“We want to go to the Philippines in person and perform there. And I hope we get the opportunity to try these delicious snacks again together with you,” said J-Us.
